After watching the Elf on the Shelf movie, they thought our

Elf should have the same name, so they renamed him.

I was sad when the boys went to Utah,

I felt like I was letting them down.

(Ryan missed his Christmas Program and Party at school

and two T ball games)

I was sad we wouldn't be able to do our Christmas traditions together.

But our families are wonderful and picked up the pieces,

and I was able to recover while they were gone.

I sent the elf hidden in their suit case.

They were SO surprised when Grandma explained that the Elf had followed them all the way from Arizona.

It has been such a fun tradition, and I can't wait to do it again next year.

I had surgery to fix my umbilical hernia.

Alli had already taken the boys to Utah so we wouldn't have to worry about them.

Tyler's Aunt Chrissy helped us so much!

She even kept Liv over night so we could sleep.

This is Chrissy's father-in-law, Jim and he made sure they brought the baby to their house.

So sweet!

We fasted last February and we starting praying for Ryder to talk in our family prayers every night.

Ryan has grown out of all the footed jammies that we have.

It was my fault that I hadn't gotten him some new ones, and he cried every night for 4 nights because Ryder had some and he didn't.

Dad saved the day and came home for school with these Lighting McQueens.

And Ryder thinks he is so funny keeping his eyes closed.

One Month

I can't believe that it's already been one month.

People ask all the time how having 3 kids has been...

well, we have had SO much help that I really don't know yet.

I don't think we would have survived on our own though.

She is starting to sleep better.

Last night she slept 7 hours straight.

The weather finally cooled down here.

We are freezing now!

50 degrees is cold to us,

we Arizonians are used to it being over 100 degrees.

(Someday when we live in Alaska I might really freeze to death or I'll be eaten by a bear at the grocery store.)

I have to make the boys wear coats and shoes outside.

They think they are just fine without them.

A couple of weeks ago I put a long sleeve shirt on Ryder,

he hated it and told me it was "too big" while pointing at the sleeves.

They boys went to Utah today.

I already miss them!

We had Thanksgiving dinner with the Owens' and Tyler's grandma Bonnie. It was SO delicious.

Then we headed to my mom's. All of her family was there.

The boys ended up swimming with the older cousins...

I forgot their swim suits so my mom found some old beauties in storage.

(I wish I had gotten a picture of Ryder because he looked like Tobias from Arrested Development.)

We ended up taking a ton of pictures trying to get a few decent ones... but I guess that's how it goes.

Sneak Peak

We were planning on staying home for Thanksgiving, but decided to go home instead.

I had Livi's newborn pictures scheduled for December 23, I was thrilled when Kellie had an opening the day before Thanksgiving.

I really had the time of my life having her pictures taken.

We were there for about 2 hours and then Tyler brought the boys down and we did some pictures of all three kids and then some family shots too.

I can't wait to see the rest of them!

We went to a wedding reception with Scott and Nat.

My mom kept the kids and Taycee for us.

When Taycee realized that her parents were gone she kind of freaked out!

Today was there 54th wedding anniversary.

They are two of the greatest people I know!

We tried Liv's blessing dress on her.

The sleeves were a little big so we sent the dress with her so she could take it in.

One Week

We were lucky to have Grandma and Grandpa O.

with us the first week.

They were so much help and the boys were in heaven.

Her cord fell off on day seven.
She smiles in her sleep all of the time.
She only cries if she has a burp or is cold getting out of the tub.
She is her mothers daughter and usually sneezes three times in a row.
One time she sneezed 6 times, I couldn't believe it!

We had a scheduled induction for Monday November 7th. We had to be at the hospital at 3:00 a.m. Tyler's parents were here to help us with the boys, it was so nice to not worry about them!

Tyler and I woke up at 2:45 and headed over to the hospital. We got registered and by 4:00 they started me on pitocin. Tyler was able to sleep a little bit on the couch. I wasn't in a ton of pain but uncomfortable enough that I couldn't sleep. By 8:00 I asked for the epidural. I should've asked for it sooner! Tyler had to go to school for a little bit. Stacey and Tyler's aunt Chrissy came down to hang out with me. The doctor came and broke my water. I think I was dialated to a six. Tyler came back around 10:30 and then left to grab something to eat. As soon as he walked out the door the nurse came and checked me again and I was at a nine. So we called Tyler and told him hurry back. He made it back and the nurse said I was ready so she called the doctor. The doctor said she would be ten minutes... 45 minutes later she came.

I pushed two times and Olivia was born!

We ended up staying in the hospital for two days, so they could watch her bilirubin levels. When the levels had come down into low range we were able to come home.

We are so blessed that she is part of our family.

Love you little one!

Tyler's mom, dad, Aunt Chrissy and Cousin Marlee were all there for the delivery. My family was on the phone.

(They couldn't come because Sam was leaving for his mission the next day.)

The boys could not wait to come see their baby!

Ryder saw the baby and then came to me and said "baby in your tummy?" I told him no and he went running back over to Olivia.

I guess he kind of understood, maybe?

The boys had to check out her hands, feet, and hair.
Ryan was excited that she has hair like him.

I made a dinosaur cake (which kind of looks like a dog).

At least Ryan was happy with it.

Nelson gave Ryan a puzzle, he loves puzzles!

On Sunday after church we hadn't even cut into his cake because we had cupcakes too. He loves blowing out candles so we lit them and sang to him again.

We went to the Museum with Tristan and his mom Lauren.

He spit outside and came running to me SO excited and told me that I had to come and see.

Ryan gave his first talk in church.

He told the story about Ammon, he had been practicing all week and probably didn't need help.

He had a picture of Ammon and a few puppets to help him out.

He was very brave and did a fantastic job.

The Urban Lake/Pond

The boys and I went and bought Dr. Pepper and balloons and we decorated the bottles with heart stickers.

We took one to Dad at school and one to Alli at work.

I also surprised the boys with some coins and coin books.

(I know it's weird).

The boys brought me home some flowers and candy too!

Tyler has been reading the boys this Elmo book.

Elmo is a puppet that sticks out of the book.

Tyler makes Elmo dance and sing "If you're happy and you know it" and the boys laugh SO hard.

Ryan only had to sleep through the night one more night so Tyler stayed up late and put together his bike.

It was kind of like Christmas Eve at our house.

When he woke up he went straight over to finish his chart, while Dad brought out the bike to the front room.

To say that he was excited would be an understatement!

{now if he doesn't sleep all night his bike gets put out in the garage and he can't ride it again until he sleeps all night.

The boys play baseball in the house with a soft bat and ball all the time.

I thought it was so cute when they were trying to play with the mini bat and ball.

Needless to say that nobody ended up hitting the little ball.

Over Christmas Ryan lost his little baseball at Grandpa and Grandma O.'s. He has been praying every night that we find it.

Grandpa was organizing some of his stuff and came across the same baseball on a Boston key chain. He mailed it to Ryan and he couldn't be more happy about it!

We met up with our friends at the mall.

Ryder was very skeptical of riding the Carousal.

We usually end up sitting on the bench together instead of him riding on the animals.

But today he stuck it out.

January 14-17, 2011

Grandpa and Grandma O. and Amy came down for a visit.

I only took one picture while Amy was playing with the boys.

They LOVE Amy!

We also went to the Cemetery to see Tyler's Grandma Katie's grave.

Ryan was super ornery all the way there.

While we were walking through I saw the headstone for

Willis Jacob Choules and thought that name was very familiar.

When I got home I called my mom to see and sure enough it was my Great Grandpa Choules. He died before I was born, so I never knew him and I didn't realize that he was buried in Mesa. I think his wife is buried in Sandy Utah.

We had a great time with Grandpa and Grandma O.

The boys were super sad to see them go.

Hopefully they come visit again soon!
