ek balam

our last stop of the day was ek balam.

another set of ruins about half an hour from chichen itza.

it has only been uncovered for about ten years.

a lot of tyler's family came to meet us.

we all got to hike up to the top too.

(you can't hike the temples at chichen itza because a lady fell all the way down and was killed)

tyler and i at the top of the main temple here.

this was my favorite part.

this is a statue on the temple itself about half way up.

very symbolic i think.

this statue is just across from the one in the picture above.

both of his arms and his head are ripped off. 
i would have really liked to know what he was doing.

he was very excited to go see the ruins.

now i would love to go to the Holy land, egypt, guatemala...

just to name a few.
