december 4, 4009

we were so lucky to have dad come to the zoo with us.
dad and ryan went on a camel ride.
i was happy because that means i never have to.
ryan was scared out of his mind.
he wanted the ride to end the whole time.
he kept yelling "i'm done" over and over
as soon as we were walking away he acted like it was the coolest thing he had ever done.
such a man.
(scared while it's happening and then talks it up to all his buddies
like it's the coolest thing in the whole world)
ha ha ha ha
tyler was thrilled that the zoo has a big horn sheep exhibit.
(big horn sheep are tylers favorite animal)
we went to the zoo close to closing time.
we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.
the weather was perfect.
we had a great time.

in-n-out stickers

ryan: very innocently getting out of the car
ryder: ryan put in-n-out stickers on his head while we were driving
(he slept right through it)
mom and dad: entertaining ryan at church the next day with the same stickers.
ryan:behaving in church
ryder:being the best little brother around
sorry this was actually taken in Sacrament meeting
is this allowed?

Cliff Hangers

Yesterday we went rappelling... WE HAD SO MUCH FUN & WE CAN'T WAIT TO GO AGAIN!!!

This is written by Julia... (she is a much better writer than me).

Enjoy...

Luke came home from school and asked on a whim if I wanted to go rappelling down a cliff he found in a recreation area called Coons Bluff. I agreed to come along as the official photographer and dog leash holder. Luke's friend Tyler from dental school and his wife Kristen and their two adorable boys Ryan and Ryder came along with us. We drove out to the recreation area and walked a short distance to the cliff. It was nestled next to a pretty river where people were fishing.

We all hiked up to the top of the cliff...

...and watched Luke unpack his big old backpack full of multi-colored ropes and carabiners while we peeped over the edge of the cliff at the beatiful view below us:

Cute family portrait:

Lola and Ryan liked going up to the edge of the cliff to look over, so we kept both of them on tight leashes!

Luke set up three anchors (so if one failed, you would have two backups); Ryan "helped:"

I gave him a good luck kiss and all of us but brave Luke hiked back down to await him at the bottom...

Truth be told, even though I know Luke has taken classes, read piles of books, and done lots of actual rock climbing, my heart still jumped (and splatted into my tummy) as he descended off over the edge. But all was well and he lived and had a great time:

Tyler and Kristen even followed suit. Mal Hombre took to barking whenever someone rappelled out over the edge. Ryan ran around, throwing stones into the river and kicking up dust through the trees---he reminded me of the character Max in Where The Wild Things Are. Little Ryder was the perfect specimen of a well-behaved and happy baby; he just hung from any one's chest he was strapped to with his bright blue eyes shining and his mouth curling up into smiles whenever you looked at him.
Tyler rappelled second:

Here is Tyler showing off his sexy harness (it is actually mine since Luke forgot the big manly one at home...pretty awesome that both guys could fit into a woman's extra small---haha!):

Here is Kristen making her way down:

It was a really fun afternoon. Thanks for coming with us Tyler and Kristen. We had a blast!

Thank you so much for taking us!!!
As much fun as it was to have the boys with us, next time we'll leave them at home:)!

November 1, 2009

every saturday i have to get us ready for church(because our church is SO early). who would've known that ryan would be sick with fevers all night. i ended up sleeping on his floor (i felt like i was camping 1.because i hate sleeping on the floor and 2.because everyitme i rolled over i could smell my hair that smelled like fire from roasting marshmallows the night before. i should have washed my hair, but we got home late). we didn't go to church. i took ry to the doctor he has an ear infection :( which i will take any day over the swine flu. i thought about leaving our church clothes this way till next sunday... but we can't really get into our drawers.
oh well.
better luck next week i guess.

(feel better ry, we love you)

Happy Halloween
We had Scott, Nat and baby lamb taycee over for soup out of the pumpkin. (thank you whit for letting me in on this tradition last year) It turned out pretty good! Then we went trick or treating for about 3 minuets. Then we were off to a party. Ryan was in heaven!! For three straight hours he played with 5 girls non stop. They jumped on the tramp, played in the playhouse, roasted marshmallows, drank hot chocolate, & rode bikes.
(on the way home he said "mom, i'm going to throw up" and then he started gagging. i dumped out his halloween bucket and sure enough he threw up in it. then he cheered for himself "yay i throw up" i think he had way to much candy, chips,& pop)
thank you darren and alyne for a great night!!

Frost family Halloween Party

annual frost family halloween party
this was our first time being able to go the frost halloween party. we had a great time! Almost all of tylers moms family was there. we had delicious homemade chicken noodle soup, chili, cupcakes, brownies, pumpkin roll, and tons of candy. everyone brings a pumpkin to carve and then all the cousins pose with pumpkins.
we can't wait till next year!
for more details about this CRAZY party :) check here

Trunk or Treat

if you can believe it we were cold at the ward's trunk or treat.
not that it was that cold but people
in arizona don't have warm clothes,
so 55 degrees is freezing!!
here are some pictures of the boys in their costumes.
ryan LOVED going around for candy, he was in heaven.
p.s. Grandma, my boys were the hit of the party...
everybody loved their costumes!!
i was one proud momma!

f.h.e.

after general conference a few weeks ago and listening to
elder bednar's talk
we decided that we would start having family home evening
no matter how they might turn out.
we haven't missed a week...
i know it's only been 4 times,
but it has been a success!

this week we took the kids down to the temple.
ryan was so excited, he loved the water fountains.
ryder loved being outside.
the sunset was beautiful.
we came home and had a lesson on temples
and how we can be forever together.
it was a great night.

Family Pictures

they can't all be good...
but it only takes one!

i love my three boys more than anything else!!

the backyard

i am so proud of myself. i should've taken before pictures of our backyard because everything was dead and frankly i was scared back there. i have pulled weeds... planted bushes... spread manure and grass seed... watered everyday... and my hard work is paying off.
baby grass!
also tyler helped me a lot so i can't take all the credit, or even half of it!

October 14-18, 2009

last week my mom and sisters came to visit us. it was so fun!! i loved having them here!! our visit was way too short and went by way too fast! we can't wait till they come back again!!

i know these pictures aren't too good. i couldn't get ryan to smile! i'll work on getting better pictures but these will have to do for now. ryan is max king of all wild things and ryder is a wild thing. my grandma h. made both costumes...they are adorable!!!
i couldn't have asked for anything better!
(and they fit perfectly)
my dad sent ryan a wild things cube puzzle
and the book that goes to the movie.
he wants to do the puzzle all day long!
we are going to go see the movie this weekend,
ryan is excited!
thanks grandpa h. for the wild things treats!
after watching general conference this year i decided that it was more than past time to start "reading" the scriptures with ryan. he has a book of pictures so we started telling him about one new picture every night (and we review everything we have read in past nights). you wouldn't think that a two year old could remember so much. his memory is incredible! he is remembering almost every picture with details too. i should have started this a long time ago! his favorite picture is when the angel comes to save Nephi from being beaten by this brother... we say "what does the angel say" and he says "be nice to your brothers".
last sunday tyler and i started "having a difference" and ryan said to me "mom be nice to your dad".
i think he is getting the point... at least i hope!
matching pj's from grandma h.
(can you believe how huge ryder is?)
i love matching pj's!
aunt heather and aunt cass... we love you so much!!
mom i think that this is the only picture of all of us...we'll have to better next time!
we also went to the asu game. it was very hot (98 degrees ) and of course our tickets were at the top of the stadium. ryan was so excited and was yelling "go sun devils"...then the fire works went off and he was scared to death the rest of the time we were there! maybe next time we'll leave them at home!

on a side note my mom bought me the cutest shoes EVER!!
i love them!
thank you mom

Halloween Craft

I just made a Halloween craft... it looks cuter in person than it does in this picture. Each year I will take a picture of my boys in their costumes and then hang them on the branches. I also want to make another one for Christmas. I'll paint the branches silver and hang our family Christmas card on it each year. I think it will be a fun way to look back!

Saturday, October 10, 2009

I can't believe it...

It wasn't there yesterday but it is today!
You really can't see it person, but I can feel it!
Love him!
Tyler said that he detected this with his good dentisting skills...
too bad he felt his gums yesterday and said "he isn't even close to cutting a tooth".
I guess I am a better mother than he is a dentist right now:)
Good thing he still has over 3.5 years of school!

Today is Special to me...

October 8th
This is my adorable Grandma Gifford. She would have been 75 today. She passed away in 1988 when I was just 5 years old. I only have a few memories of her. Recently I started reading her history book that my Grandpa put together years ago. I have read parts of it here and there but haven't read the entire thing until now. There is something so wonderful about looking to the past. I am so grateful that I have this history of her. I truly feel like I know her because of this book and because my Grandpa never misses an opportunity to talk about her. I hope to grow up to be just like her. She loved babies, she loved families, and most importantly she loved the Lord! I am so thankful that families can be Together Forever! Also on this day 5 years ago I went to the temple to take out my own endowment. As my sweet mom and I were in the brides room we both could feel the presence of my Grandma, I know she was there. I also know that she was there when each of my sons were born... she never would have missed it!

Just because he is changing so much!

October 2, 2009

Last Friday I took the boys to the Zoo. We met my aunt Marci and two of her kids there.
Ryan played with Nelson the whole time and had a blast!!
The babies rode in the stroller the whole time and were fabulous.
Marci is the youngest in my dad's family (he is the oldest)
so Marci and I are only 6 years apart! We've always been close!
It's weird that some of my cousins are my boys age... but it works out great now for playing!
Thanks for meeting us at there we had a GREAT time! Can't wait to go again!!!
Did the turtles have to be mating??? and Why was Ryan so intrigued by it?

We are ready for Halloween!

Ryder wins little brother of the year!
I was in the other room and Ryan came and told me I had to see Ryder!
Ryan put a bucket on his head and Ryder didn't even make a peep!
I have the cutest Halloween decorations and every single one has been a gift...
Thanks to Tyler's mom and aunts!!
Tyler answered me to Sadies our Senior year with the little frankenstein guy in the top left picture (you can barley see it in the corner).
Weird that I kept it... and now we are married with two kids.

My sisters are the greatest!

We got a little treat in the mail this week! Cassie my sister mailed us a card.
Ryan was so excited to open it.
I am one lucky girl to have the most wonderful, thoughtful, caring sisters around!!!
Thanks girls!

Where the Wild Things Are

I saw the preview for this movie and went and bought the book for Ryan. He LOVES it!! I was surprised that he liked it so much. He wants to read the book and watch the movie trailer all day long! My Grandma Hutchinson is an amazing seamstress. I am so excited that she is making my boys Halloween costumes this year. Ryan is going to be Max "king of all wild things" and Ryder is going to be a wild thing. I can't wait to see the costumes!!!

The weather has FINALLY cooled down!

I took the boys to the park this week. We are lucky to have a park about 4 houses down from us. The weather has finally cooled down and isn't 100+ degrees everyday. We had a great time at the park and we are excited to go more often!!
Watching airplanes!!
Literally running around the park!
I was hoping there would be some kids for Ryan to play with.
Only older kids were there playing kick ball.
Ryan kept watching and watching, he finally asked if he could go play with them.
I hesitated to let him go... but decided that he could.
The older boys played with him for about 40 minuets and they were so good to him!
Later that night he prayed for his "new friends at the park"... So Cute!
Cute Ryder being a champ in the stoller... I am sure that he was glad to be outside too.
Even if it was windy and he had to wear a hat to cover his ears.

Giants mini bat

Grandma and Grandpa O. went to San Francisco a few weeks ago.
Grandpa bought Ryan a mini bat to go in his collection of mini bats.
He was so excited about it and has slept with it ever since!!
Thanks Papa O.

Crafting

I love crafting!!!

I am looking for a quote to go on my wall above this picture craft that I just made...any ideas??
(Thank you Sara Hansen Frei for the cute idea, hope you don't mind that I copied you)
also I need to get some double stick tape to make my pictures hang straight from the ribbon

Grandma O!

Grandma O came to visit us last Wednesday through Saturday. We loved having her here! I am so mad at myself that I didn't take one picture of her and the boys. She does spoil us when she is here though. She got the boys matching pajamas. They are my favorite pj's of all time! My boys couldn't look any different! Of course I think they are so cute though. (What mother doesn't think her own kids are cute?) Ryan was sad to see Grandma go home... he was thrilled to pick her up and take her to the airport though!! I have the best mother-in-law ever! She is wonderful and I am thankful to have her as one as my best friends!

Cute Ryder eating his toes!

I got new shoes... I wore them for one hour...HUGE blister.

(since when did my feet age a 100 years?)

Nate

Nate are you getting ready to punch me?????
When I was little we lived at Y Mount Terrace.
We would make frequent trips to the BYU Cougar in front of Lavell Edwards Staduim.
(Same cougar)
Nate graduated with a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the Marriott School of Management a few weeks ago.
We didn't make it to the Ceremony but we are really proud of him.
Good Job Uncle Nate!

R.I.P.

Lil' Wayne our black fish passed away. We had to flush him this morning.
I told Ryan that He went to live with Heavenly Father and he said "Heather?".
We'll have to work on the plan of Salvation!!

Airport

Ryan loves going to the airport to watch the planes come and go.
We drive to the top of the parking garage.
Then we sit in the back of the jeep and watch.
It makes his day!!!

(I really did dress Ryder but he pooped on the way there... and he ended up not being able to wear his shirt)

Tender Golden Sweet Potatoes!!

We started Ryder on Veggies...
He loves them!!!
