ryder loves..

dad!
ryder has become such a daddy's boy!
when dad comes home ryder gets so excited.
he puts his head down and crawls as fast as he can to him.
maybe ryder likes dad so much because he let him try dr. pepper,
 and he absolutely loved it!
(he actually got this can out of the trash and instead of me taking it away,
of course i grabbed the camera)

carol

ryan is scared of monsters.
good thing carol from where the wild things are protects his room every night.
he scares away all the monsters!
don't you think carol looks pretty scary? i do!
but ryan will assure you that "carol is nice".

last sunday was a perfect day!

we first went to the gila valley temple dedication. it was very unlike the nauvoo temple, this one was very laid back. everyone that spoke paid tribute to president kimball.  i thought it was great to remember such a great man. (he is from the gila valley area).  president monson, elder eyring, and elder holland were there.  they let a bunch of kids fill in the mortar on the cornerstone.  i am sure that those lucky kids will remember that for the rest of their lives.  and sweet president monson... he sure is a story teller, he even told one story two times.  it's hard to see people get older and they can't quite remember as good as they used to.  he still did a great job though. the spirit was there and i loved every minute!
i did want to remember one thing that president monson said
"i have a certain knowledge that Jesus is the Christ"
i think that is very special!

it was nice to not have to wrangle the boys through church.
are the months 12-18 as long for anyone else as they are for me?
taking ryder to nursery couldn't come sooner!

the boys played so well together today...
ryder is learning how to hammer.  thanks to ryan for showing him how!

does it look like someone needs a hair cut?
ryders hair is SO straight, i don't think i can keep it long like ryans.

after we got ryder in bed for the night ryan and i went outside.  can you believe that it was actually cold here?  we had three blankets with us.
we played with the our blankets like they were tents,
and we even ate brownies together.
ryan thought that was awesome.
and it was.
i love spending time with him.
he is such a great kid!
and i am sure he'll figure out how to stop throwing tantrums soon.
or he will end up with a lot of vinegar in his mouth.
so far the only thing that helps is a little vinegar.
he sure does hate it!
(i told my grandma about it, she has nine kids herself and she just laughed and said
i guess he won't like pickles.  but actually he already loves pickles.)
funny kid.

the perfect day ended with the red sox winning, so even dad was happy!
the end.

ac

last saturday night our ac unit stopped working for the second time.  we thought for sure we would be paying for a whole new unit because last time the repair was only like $50 bucks.  luckily tylers cousins work in the ac business.  jake was nice enough to come over on sunday and take a look at what was wrong.  he brought his tool bag and ladder in the house and ryan quickly grabbed his tools. what a little helper!

jake is our hero!  two wires on the unit in the attic were corroded.  quick , easy and free fix!
thanks jake!

all boy

with a house of three boys there is A LOT of wrestling going on.  pretty much all day everyday.
good thing they love each other.

on a side note.
ryan has been throwing the WORST tantrums lately.
terrible twos have nothing on terrible threes.
ahhhhh.
not sure what to do with him.
i thought he was just tired, but he had a nap yesterday and still had a major freak out.
i haven't found anything that will make him stop screaming.
it's wearing me out!

ryder reading

ryder is getting so big.
sure love this little guy even if he's teething and decided that it was ok to be up the other night from 3:30-6:00.  ryder was looking around for ryan and was pretty disappointed that he was in bed.
i can't complain because he has been sleeping so much better!
ryder has been giving me kisses for awhile now, but he finally gave dad kisses on 5.6.10.
he has become a huge daddy's boy!
when dad comes home both boys want nothing to do with me.
dad gets mauled,  i think he is flattered though.
ryder has become a very picky eater, i am hoping that will get better when his teeth cut.
he has taken 8 steps, only one time though.  he doesn't mind crawling and has gotten pretty fast at it.
he loves taking a bath with ryan, they have so much fun!

love you little buddy!

kite flying

yesterday was a little windy so i took the kids to the park so we could try out our new kite.
(we have actually had it for awhile but the instructions of how to put the thing together looked hard)
the instructions also said the wind had to be blowing 7 mph...well how do you know how fast the wind is blowing?  lick your finger and stick it in the air and then you'll know?
well i did have to run to get the kite up, so i think it was blowing about 3.3 mph.
we really only got it going one time.
at least the boys had fun outside.
i couldn't take pictures of our flying kite and run with it.
maybe next time.

swimming lessons

i can't believe that ryan is old enough for swimming lessons.
every week he gets more brave.
he is putting his face in the water and is feeling a lot more comfortable.
and he looks so cute in his toy story swim suit which he insists on wearing every lesson.
he does get a little cold so i let him get in the hot tub for "one second" before we go home.
we are very proud parents!
love you ry.

mothers day 2010

the boys made me feel very special on mothers day.
tyler took me to dinner the night before and surprised me with my favorite kind of cheesecake from the cheesecake factory.
tyler also let me sleep in... and had the boys saying cute things to me all day.

i dressed ryan for church in this get up.
he hated it was crying and crying so we let him change.
by the time we actually got in the car to go to church... i had to wake ryder up, both boys were crying, i was sweating and truthfully i don't know that we would have made it except that i was saying the closing the prayer.

thanks boys for a wonderful day.
love you all
love, mom

(ryder looked adorable too, i tried to take a picture of him sleeping peacefully but of course he woke up)

this is my mothers day gift from ryan.
the trellis he made at lowe's and the flower he made at nursery.
perfect!

a of f # 1

on monday i started working with ryan on the articles of faith.
here is # 1.
we probably only worked it for 30 minutes.
he is very good at memorizing.

ryder walking?

ryder starting walking on 5.3.10, unfortunately he still is at about 3 steps. he doesn't care too much. and he knows he can get where he wants to go.
(and i know my voice sounds annoying)

dear uncle sam,

since you call ryan "rhino", and i have two rys.  i couldn't resist buying these rhino pj's.
love k.

thermometer

the last time ryan was sick he wouldn't let me take his temperature...
i was surprised to see him come out if his room with a cardboard thermometer in his mouth.
funny boy!

kentucky derby

when i was growing up my family used to watch the kentucky derby every year.
which is strange because only one of us knows anything about horses, and none of us gamble.
but that's just what we did.
i love watching the three big horse races every year.
tyler must think it's crazy, but we goes along with it.
ryan was so excited all week. (i must have brainwashed him a little.)
while the race was going on he was running around the house like a horse.
i should have bet this year i could have won a lot of money because i knew super saver was going to win, Calvin Borel did a great job again!
too bad ryan will probably be too tall to be a jockey:)

hey mom and dad,
i think our next family vacation should be to churchhill downs???!!??

gila valley temple

4.30.10

we took the kids and drove over to the new gila valley temple.
it was a three hour drive, but the kids did great in the car.
ryder slept the whole way there with his eyes open (i sleep the same way).

ryan was content to watch a movie, drink orange soda and make funny faces.

however, they weren't so good in the temple.
i am guessing they had too much energy from the drive.

to keep ryder happy on the way home we gave him m&m's...
he looks pretty happy to me!

overall i would do it again in a heartbeat.
tyler would wait about ten years when our kids are old enough to behave!

ryan says

mom: the red sox are winning
ryan: oh, daddy will be so happy
4.11.10

grandpa: the red sox lost
ryan: oh no.  how are we going to find them?
4.17.10

ryan stood on top of the toy box and yelled
"i'm king of ryder"
4.20.10

buzz lightyear was lost and found
ryan: i love you buzz so much
4.20.10

ryan hates getting wet and refuses to wear wet clothes!
he ended up getting a few drops of water on his shorts in the backyard.
in an attempt to keep him in his clothes, tyler told him that he wears wet clothes all the time.
a few minutes later i checked on him and he was pouring water all over himself.
mom: why are your pants all wet
ryan: cause yea daddy told me all the time.
4.27.10

ryan: mom you ruined my hair i'm trying to make it perfect for the show.
(i still have no idea what "show" he was talking about)
4.28.10

tyler had just gotten after ryan, telling him that he needed to listen to dad.
later in the night it was time to have family prayers.
ryan was kneeling on the floor with his arms folded.
(this is a rare event, we usually have to hold him down).
tyler was on the couch and ryan said to him.
"dad, it's time for prayers"
when tyler didn't move quickly enough
ryan said "dad, you listen to me, do you hear me? you need to listen to me!" repeated a few times.
4.29.10

ryan: mom, buzz can't talk, oh yeah, only ryan can talk
4.30.10

we walked outside on a saturday morning
ryan: it's a beautiful day!
5.1.10

dad: thank you ryan for helping
(ryan insisted on helping put gas in the car)
ryan: it was my pleasure
5.1.10

ryan: cleaning is so boring
(said under his breath while he was cleaning)
5.3.10

ryan: mom, i need your pillow cause it's comfy
5.5.10

mom: let's go brush your teeth
ryan:  i want my teeth to be stinky
5.6.10

mom:  what are you doing?
ryan: mom, they (the fish crackers) are going swimming
he was dipping the crackers into his orange juice and then smearing the remaining juice that was on his fingers all over the table
5.7.10

happy mothers day

to grandma o. and grandma h.,
we hope you have a wonderful day.
thank you for being such awesome grandmas!
can't wait to see you both!!

i am lame and didn't get these in the mail to you...
so enjoy your picture today.
sorry!

lady bug cake

i helped make this little lady bug cake for our friends birthday.
i would love to take some classes to figure out all about cake decorating...but for now we'll just keep practicing.

lizard

this little guy ended up inside our house the other day, because we have been leaving the back door open.
i am not afraid of spiders or bugs.
but anything this big inside...ahhh!
scared me to death.
i tried to be brave, i really did.
tyler was at school and i was dead set on getting this guy out of the house by myself.
well i did have help...ryan was my little helper.
the good news is we scared him out the door.
(after he ended up under the coach, piano, and bookcase).
the bad news is, ryan might be scared of lizards for his whole life.
oops!

the bronc

does someone look happy?
the bronco makes my boys this way!

he did have something on that matched.
but really basketball shorts??
how does he know already that they are the most comfortable?

safe

tylers dad brought our new safe down from utah.
it was quite the adventure to get it out of the truck and into the house because it weighs 840 lbs.
tyler has great friends that helped out.
we obviously could not have done it with out them!
who would have thought it would take four guys, two dollies, four wheeler ramps, pvc pipe, plywood, and a old tire?

they eventually got it in the house and into place.

thanks boys for your help!

nursery

ryan loves nursery.  during Sacrament meeting he asks if he can go to nursery about a million times.
we try and explain that his teacher is sitting right by us and no one is in nursery yet.  but he still wants to go.

i shouldn't be surprised that he is learning so much in nursery, he really has a great memory.
he learned the song the wise man built his house upon the rock.  he can sing all the words.
this song has become a favorite at family home evening.
he also loves the song i hope they call me on a mission.

this happened before Easter but i forgot to write it down...

ryan was playing with a small black tire and a little piece of plastic.  he was putting the plastic on the hole of the tire.
he said to me "Jesus is in the cave"
i said "who?"
he said "Jesus, mom.  and then they rolled this big rock over the cave."

he was remembering the story of Easter that he learned in nursery.
he is so smart!

this is ryan after church... he was mad that he had to come in the house.

april 24, 2010

last saturday i took the kids to a petting zoo because i thought that ryan would have such a good time.
well, it was the smallest petting zoo ever.  the bunny's name was coors light.  he was the biggest bunny i've ever seen, way bigger than the pig that was there.
and have you ever seen a goat standing on a cooler?
you couldn't really pet any of the animals...it was more like a looking zoo.
seriously, we didn't stay long.
so lame!!!
