cancun

::day 4::
we went to chichen itza.
i absolutely loved it.
we had an amazing LDS tour guide.

he really brought the Book of Mormon to life.
i learned so much.
i might even become an archeologist.
probably not, but i can dream!
i took hundreds of pictures and now can't remember half of what things are.
but here are my favorites.
us in front of the main temple

white bearded God.

           an indian
a roman

the ball court

can you even believe how straight this wall is.
it's so incredible to me how smart these people were.
how they could figure out calendars and astronomy, it really is amazing.

at first the ball court was used for a friendly game but over the years the people became more like the gladiators.
this next picture is an eagle eating a human heart.

and this picture is a guy holding someone's head.

in the scriptures there are good and bad serpents.
this is a good one, he has feathers.

this is a stone box.
they kept very special things in stone boxes.
i would like to think that the gold plates were found in a similar stone box.

four months ago some archeologists thought they should start digging in front of the main temple...
they found an even older temple.
i am sure it will take years to uncover the whole thing.

this is a highway.
3 Nephi 6:8
and there were many highways cast up, and many roads make, which led from city to city, and from land to land, and from place to place.

us "walking" on the highway

the highways go along and then there are huge spots where they don't connect to each other.
3 Nephi 8:13
and the highways were broken up, and the level roads were spoiled, and many smooth places became rough.

this is an observatory.

this is a horse.

a lot of anti mormons think that the Book of Mormon isn't true because it references horses.
enos 1:21
and it came to pass that the people of Nephi did till the land, and raise all manner of grain, and of fruit, and flocks of herds, and flocks of all manner of cattle of every kind, and goats, and wild goats, and also many horses.

and even if there wasn't a horse there for me to see...
the book of mormon is true because of the spirit you feel you when you read it.
not because there are horses.

this is a beehive.
(because the church is true, and always has been)

this is a baptismal font.

this is an alter.

this is the main temple.

2 Nephi 5:16
and I, Nephi, did build a temple; and I did construct it after the manner of the temple of Solomon...

with an baptismal font, an alter, and the main temple.

just like at chichen itza!
