my sunshine

lately every night when i put ryan in bed he says to me
"mom, rub my face and sing you are my sunshine"
his favorite part of the song is
 "you'll never know dear how much i love you, 
please don't take my sunshine away"
i know this because he hears me singing the first part and he says
no no no mom, sing the part you'll never know dear..."


it's pretty much my favorite part of the day.

kid's bathroom

 we have been in our house for almost a year now.

i have finally gotten around to decorating the bathroom.

i don't know why it took so long.

i couldn't decide what to do in there.

i had planned on doing something more girly, 

but who am i kidding?

i live with three boys.

and ryan loves the fish and letters.

when he saw it he said "oh thanks mom, i love it". ha

and i didn't spend any money... ok but only 50 cents at DI. 

which i am sure tyler will be happy about :)

i had the white shower curtain, but it was so plain.

i cut up some red towels and sewed on some stripes.

thanks chrissy for all the vinyl!!

you are so good to us!!! 

and i obviously couldn't have done it with out you.

fathers day

we are so blessed to have such a great dad.

and two wonderful grandpas!

i attempted to make a cake.

it started melting and when i was almost done frosting it the whole thing cracked down the center...

not my best one!

we had to celebrate fathers day with dad a little early.

he is up in utah studying for boards.

we sure miss him like crazy though!

and what's a fathers day without a homemade craft.

well really a lowe's made craft.

toy story

we have been anticipating toy story 3 coming out since Christmas.
we have started quite the collection of toys too...

a while back ryan was so concerned that the toys didn't have a name on their feet,
so of course i took care of it for him "with permanent ink".
(now he has me write his name on most of his toys)

ryan was playing with these toys one day and i over heard this conversation...


"buzz lightyear, the greatest toy ever i think"
"to infinity & beyond"
"buzz turned into an airplane, falling in style"
"jessie is the cowboy girl"
then buzz fell off the chair
"are you ok buzz, are you ok boy?"
he also had some toy story fruit snacks, one was zurge...
"destroy buzz lightyear, destroy buzz lightyear, destroy buzz lightyear"


last week alli took ryan to walmart and told him to pick out a buzz lightyear.  she told him he could have which ever one he wanted...
he picked the smallest one there. (remember that he loves mini things)
funny kid.


also uncle sam went to disney land last month and brought ryan home the pig.  it's still in utah until grandma comes next week, he hasn't forgotten about it though.


this week grandma and grandpa o. told ryan that surprise pajamas  were coming in the mail.
we went and checked the mail everyday.
and the package finally came!

ryan wanted to come straight home open the box, take a bath, and put on his new pajamas. 
so, that's exactly what we did. 

he goes around pushing the buttons and saying what ever it is that buzz lightyear says.
it's pretty funny.


i went to get the mail yesterday and to my surprise my moms best friend emily (the older sister i never had), had mailed me a letter with money to take the boys to see the movie.
she is the kindest and most thoughtful person i know!

we actually left ryder at home with alli and we headed to the movie. 


"little buzz"

this is what he wanted to wear.  actually he wanted to wear the pajama shorts too, so at least i got him in some jeans.

i may or may not have been just as excited as ryan!

ryan did get scared during the "fire", but then the toys were rescued by the claw.

we loved it!

can't wait till it comes out on video!

good times

ryan is such a good helper!

he will always help out in the yard.

even if he is naked!

and you can you believe that tan line?

i hardly even put sunscreen on him anymore!

two nights ago ryan dropped the dust pan right on his foot.

it made the littlest scratch ever,

but it was bleeding.

 i was out of band aids, so i wrapped his foot up and he thought it was the coolest thing.

i was just glad that i didn't have to run to the store for band aids because i had just put ryder into bed!

d backs

{june 10, 10}

we headed to the d backs game.

i thought it would be fun.

turns out i was the only one that had any fun.

after three innings ryan was crying to go home.

tyler had stood in line not one but two different times for hot dogs. 

mesa city bused in 6500 kids, they were everywhere and when everyone cheered it was a high pitched scream.

ryder threw the biggest tantrum that he ever has, because i wouldn't let him hold the stick of the hot corn dog.

he started crying and threw himself back, and he let all the drool  in his mouth just run out everywhere.

then a few minutes later i was holding ryan on my lap tickling him, and he peed a little bit on me.

really?

and then tyler was mad that we spent 50 dollars on tickets to have two hours in hell.

it's funny to me now as i am typing this, but it wasn't then. 

sporting events+kids=not a good time!

we'll try again in 10 years...maybe.

haircuts

the boys got haircuts.

including dad, but i don't have a picture with him.

 short cuts for summer.

(ryder's hair is so straight that i should probably keep it short)

we have had two kids now for

14 months!

i can't believe that time goes by this fast.

and i know that i say this all the time!

ryan and i get to wake up to this face everyday.

it makes us so happy!

the boys get along really well most of the time.

i am very grateful for this.

ryan likes to play with tupperwear on his head.

now, ryder thinks that all bowls should go on your head.

it's pretty funny to see him try to get one on his head if it's too small:)

ryder is walking a lot better now. he can go clear across the room.
 he still crawls for his main mode of transportation. 
he can climb up and down the couch.
he started to point to things that he wants.
his first molar broke through yesterday 6.14.10.
he has about 5 other teeth still coming in.




ryan starts preschool in the fall.

he already has a toy story backpack and is SO excited about it.

can you tell?

yep, he is sleeping with it!

more visitors!

[may 27-jun 1]

grandma, brookey, and amy came to visit.

we shopped, ate, shopped, ate (ryder and i got a little food poisoning)

we got better and then shopped some more.

thursday night they went to tylers cousins graduation.

we would have gone but with our kids we are better off staying home these days.

 friday & saturday we shopped at the mall and hung out.

sunday night we had a family get together with eveyone, and of course homemade cinnamon rolls (that were absolutely delicious, 
great job chrissy!)

monday we celebrated memorial day with a girls lunch & a family bbq.

we also celebrated grandma o's birthday.

(we surprised her with a cake...  i wonder who's good idea that was??)

you know how much ryan loves loves loves birthdays and blowing out candles.

i of course forgot to bring out my camera until the last day.

(yes our safe is in our front room, it doesn't fit through any of the bedroom doors)

amy was kind enough to sleep with ryan in his tent.

thank you amy!! 

(ryan has seriously been telling me that you were going to sleep with him in the tent for weeks before you came)

the GRAND canyon

[may 27, 2010]

  scott, nat, and taycee were headed to the grand canyon and we thought it would be fun to take the boys.

{turns out we have done quite a few things lately with the boys, and we need to wait till they are about 15 years old :)}

they did pretty good in the car, especially because it was 4 hours there and we still had to drive home.

we stopped in flagstaff for lunch at salsa brava.

(this restaurant was featured on  Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri)  

it was pretty good.  worth stopping by.

we were also driving on

route 66

the boys were super good sports!!

or maybe now that it's been a few weeks i remember the trip better than it was:)

ryan listening to the wildlife cd's at the visitors center 

ryder and i at the first outlook.

tyler rented a bike and trailer and took ryan for a ride in it.

as they were passing people in the bike, ryan was yelling in the most excited voice he has.

he had a complete blast.

(tyler took the bike back before i could get a picture of them)

that's more like it!

really he rarely ever cries.

i absolutely love ryan's face in this picture.

next time we'll leave the kids home:)

so i can't believe that a whole month has already passed.  
i have some catching up to do...


my parents, sam, and cass came down last month for my cousins farewell (he has already left now for guatemala)


we headed to the zoo friday morning.
 the cutest little volunteer was out feeding the giant tortoises.  she was very informative and you could tell that she loved the animals.  she even had a silver turtle hanging from one of her necklaces:)

when we all got hot,
we went swimming!

grandpa and sam chased ryan around the pool.  he loved it!
and ryder just loved playing in the shallow end.


nate and linley were headed to hawaii and had a layover in phoenix saturday morning.  
nate insisted that my parents bring him this lovely hawaiian shirt:)  
ryan loves the airport... and we went on top of the parking garage and watched the planes take off.

ryan was flying with grandma during our bbq saturday night.
look at that serious face:)

my grandpa and grandma h. came down for the farewell too.

they came by to see my house after they were done at my cousins.

it was great to see them.

after all, they are some of my most favorite people!

great weekend.  can't wait to have you all come back!
