really ryder?

dear son,
i would appreciate you eating a little bit neater.
it really isn't ok to rub food all over your face and in your hair
 every. single. time.
love you,
love mom

family pictures

i only have a few pictures back.
i'll get the rest next time i see my mom.
but for now...

sports

ryder LOVES
shooting hoops.
all day every day!
he will come to me with a ball and turn around.
this means pick me up and let me shoot a hoop.
and every time he makes a basket,
he cheers for himself.

he also loves playing t-ball.
which is nice because he can do it all by himself!

lizard #2

this is the 2nd lizard that we have had inside our house.
i thought that the 1st lizard came in because we had our sliding door open a lot.
but since it's still really hot here and we haven't had the door open...
i just don't know.

i heard something behind the curtain and thought,
please tell me that was a cricket.
(even though the sound was pretty loud).
nope.
it was another lizard.
ryder was in bed, and ryan was at school.
i knew i had to get the thing OUTside because
i don't think i could sleep knowing that there was a lizard roaming around.
so i ended up catching it under a bowl and i didn't want it to get out so i put a heavy book on it.
i almost left it that way for tyler to take care of.
but then i had a great idea to slip some newspaper under it without lifting the bowl.
and then i slid it across the floor by the door.
and then i threw the whole thing outside as fast as i could.
success.
the lizard was OUTside!
and now i know that lizards came sneak in our house through a little vent hole in the bottom of the door.
which i will be covering so we don't get anymore lizards!
***
and this experience was traumatic.
i am just glad that ryan wasn't around this time to see me freaking out and running around like crazy.

nap with a band-aid

the first few days ryder had stitches he didn't realize that he had a band-aid on...
then one day i put ryder down for a nap.
and when he woke up
he wouldn't keep his band-aids on anymore.

and he got upset with me because instead of getting him out of bed i ran and got my camera and took pictures of him :)

the wound

it's needless to say that ryder HATED
getting his head cleaned.
the first day i tried to clean it while he was in the tub.
he wouldn't let me.
so day 2 i had to strap him down to our old changing pad.
i felt bad, but it was the only way.

{right before we had the stitches taken out}

the stitches were only in for 5 days.
i thought the removal was going to be horrible.
they strapped him down to a board.
he cried but then he realized getting them taken out wasn't
too bad and he settled down.

he does have a little red scar.
and when he scowls he had a dent in his forehead.

he is still super cute though:)

when it never cools down

we throw ice at each other and all over the back yard.
we play trucks inside.
and we read books.
ryans favorite book right now is
scooby-doo.
dad reads from this book every. single. night.
well really he has made up a new story that isn't so scary to go with all 256 pages.

labor day

{sept 4-6}
we stayed home over labor day.
we thought about taking the boys camping but that didn't work out.
and since we have had trouble doing activities with the boys that they didn't end up liking...
we didn't do anything big.
we did go swimming a couple of times.
and we fixed the tent.
(it was missing some parts)
i also made cupcakes.
ryan "helped" me by eating the tops off of them
and piling them up on the table.
ryan also thinks that the attachments to the vacuum are the nose of an elephant.
so much fun.
it was a nice relaxing weekend!

a horrible day

we headed to lowes today to make these dogs...

they are leash hangers, but since we don't have dogs.
we are using it for a backpack holder.

while we were building ryder fell over and hit his forehead on a metal beam.
i thought it would bleed a ton.
it was bad but not terrible.
i asked the employee to get me some paper towels.
and then 3 managers came to check things out and talk to me.
we had to fill out an incident report.
it was all i could do to not cry while he was asking me for our information.
as soon as we left i called tyler and started crying.
(he is in utah at chance's wedding)
then we spent the next 3 hours in the emergency room.
when they finally got to us it had already been over an hour.
the doctor thought that she could glue it back together.
but by the time they cleaned it, it was bleeding so bad that the glue wasn't working.
so of course she said he needed stitches.
my heart sank.
i almost starting bawling right there.
he had already totally freaked out while they tried to glue it.
and it took them a long time to come back and to get everything set up.
they wrapped him up like a mummy with a sheet, and it took three people to hold him down.
he screamed the entire time they were numbing, and cleaning, and stitching.
it was pure torture.
i am glad that he won't remember this,
but i know that i will never forget.
he has been as good as gold since i brought him home.
hopefully he will be able to sleep well tonight.
he did have an exhausting day.
arm band

three stitches

the only picture i could get of him looking at the camera.
and of course he has food on his mouth.
(ryan picked out the toy story bandaids)
which i am sure we will have a hard time keeping them on.
hopefully we aren't back to the er anytime soon.
or ever!

3.5

ryan is three and a half today.
if you ask him how old he is,
he holds up five fingers.
i told him he can still hold up just three.

ryan was the king in preschool today
not because it is his half birthday,
just because it was his turn.
we made this poster last night that he could show his class.

the poster says
i'm three years old.
my favorite color is green.
my favorite animal is an elephant.
my favorite food is apples.
the zoo is my favorite place.
when i grow up i want to be woody.
my favorite thing to do is go to the park.
if i had one wish, i would wish for
an airplane ride.
(he really didn't understand what a wish was...
i did my best trying to explain it)

this little guy (who thinks he is big)
too big to kiss his mother even.
i told him that i would be kissing him till he was 85.
and he thinks that is so funny.
he is such a good brother.
he does yell ryyy derrr when ryder messes up what he is doing.
but other than that they play great together.
ryan even sings to ryder all the time.
and if you ask ryan to sing "you are my sunshine"
he sings in the highest pitched voice while rubbing your face.
it really is sweet.
he is learning so much in preschool
(i have a whole other post about that).
and he loves going.
and my favorite thing is picking him up everyday.
and everyday he asks me if i missed him so much.
and the truth is...
i did.

love you ryan
"you are my favorite thing in the whole world in my life"

thank you!!

grandma o. kept the boys while i went to texas.
i kept calling to check in and she finally asked me if i was worried about them.
i knew that they were in great hands, i was hoping that the boys were behaving and not causing a ruckus.
thanks stacey, you really are the very best mother-in-law
in the whole world!

my uncle john gave the most amazing welcome speech.   he started by explaning to all the non-members what our church believes about marriage and why we choose to get married in the Temple. he talked about the covenants evan and kamille had made that day with each other and the Lord and that we believe that marriage is eternal.  he thanked the fox family for being amazing and raising a righteous son. one that they'd been praying for their daughter since she was a little girl.  we all cried during his speech.  it was perfect!
